Want to Find a Job as a Trivia Host?
We Have a Better Idea...
As veteran quizmasters ourselves, we get why you want to become a trivia host. It’s a really fun gig, between running the game, entertaining the crowd, and getting paid to hang out at a bar.
But here’s something many people don’t realize:
You don’t actually need to get hired by a trivia company in order to host trivia.
In fact, the easiest way to start hosting trivia might be to skip the job search entirely and start your own trivia night.
Be Your Own Boss
Many large trivia companies hire hosts as freelancers. That means you’re often working their schedule, using their materials, and getting paid only a portion of what the bar is paying.
When you host a trivia night yourself, it works very differently:
- You choose the venue
- You set the schedule
- You set your own price
- You build your own trivia business
Instead of trying to get a job as a trivia host, you can simply create one. For instance, if you're already a regular at a bar, brewery, restaurant, VFW, community center, etc, start there. You can also reach out to local establishments that don't currently have trivia. Just be sure to come armed with facts because information always helps when convincing a company to try something new. For example, if you know of a successful trivia night elsewhere, mention that when contacting these places. Every business owner wants to be on par with, or better than, their competition.
And the best part?
You don’t even have to write the questions.
We Write the Trivia Questions for You
Writing great bar trivia questions takes a lot of time and effort. Questions need to be balanced, fact-checked, and fun for a wide range of players.
That’s exactly why we created our trivia packets.
Our weekly trivia subscription gives you everything you need to host a trivia night immediately, including:
- 5 rounds of bar trivia questions and answers
- A picture round
- Printable answer sheets
- Host instructions
- A ready-to-use PowerPoint presentation
Our questions are tested at live trivia nights and carefully edited so hosts never have to worry about bad questions or disputed answers.
And the cost?
As low as $20 per week.
Try It for Free
If you’re curious how it works, you can try it for free.

The Easiest Way to Start: Run a Free Pilot Trivia Night
If you want to host a trivia night at a bar but you’re worried about convincing an owner, here’s a simple trick that works surprisingly well:
Offer to run the first night for free.
Bars love low-risk ideas that bring customers in. A free trial event lets them see how trivia works without committing to anything.
And because we provide a free sample quiz packet, including all 5 question rounds, the picture round, PowerPoint, and forms, you can easily run that first night without spending anything.
Your pitch can be as simple as:
“I’m starting a trivia night and would love to run a free trial event here. If it works well and brings in customers, we could make it a weekly thing.”
Most businesses are happy to try something that might bring people in on a slow night.
How Much Can a Trivia Host Make?
Once the event becomes regular, trivia hosts often earn $150–$250 per night, depending on the venue and location.
That means your weekly expenses might look something like this:
Weekly Potential Earnings
| Host payment from bar | $150.00 |
| Cost of trivia questions | - $20.00 |
| Weekly Profit | $130.00 |
*Based on a conservative $150 night. High-traffic venues often pay $250+.
Not bad for a few hours of work. Many hosts eventually add additional venues or nights, turning trivia hosting into a full-time small business. Our licensing is for use at a single venue only but just contact us if you want to expand to multiple venues and we'll be sure to work something out!
Do You Need Equipment?
Probably not.
Most bars already have:
- A microphone
- A PA system
- TVs or a screen for picture rounds
Often the host just plugs into the house system and runs the game.
Local Hosts Are Often the Best Hosts
One of the biggest advantages of running your own trivia night is that you know the crowd.
Local hosts can tailor their events to the people in the room. That might mean adding:
- Special local questions or rounds
- Themed trivia nights
- Bonus questions
- Inside jokes for regular players
Instead of Trying to Get a Job as a Trivia Host…
Create one.
Rather than spending time trying to find a job as a trivia host, you can start your own trivia night, set your own prices, and run the event your way.
All you really need is:
- A bar willing to try trivia
- A microphone
- Great bar trivia questions
And we can help with that last part.
