When you first begin hosting trivia at your bar it's important to make sure that the event lasts the right amount of time. If your event is too long, players can get bored but if it’s too short, it will feel rushed.
So, how long should it be?
After almost two decades of hosting trivia, we believe the perfect trivia night should last between 2 and 3 hours. This allows for enough time to have several rounds of questions, with each round lasting around 15-20 minutes while also giving players time in between rounds to grab a drink, order food, discuss answers, and socialize. Be sure to never rush the time between rounds as this is where the most money can be made at the bar and with the waiter.
What is the best format?
To ensure the right amount of time we suggest keeping your quiz to five rounds with ten questions per round. The questions should be challenging without being unfair while also giving the team members something interesting to discuss. This will contribute to the proper pacing of the evening and keep the timing just right.
